Explanation of Safety at Flagstaff Downtown Dental

The below is a detailed account of some of the things we are doing to insure a clean and safe environment for our patients:

  • We are overstaffing and under scheduling to allow time and space enough to be sure everything is done in a thoughtful and safe manner. Providing the safest atmosphere possible has always been a top priority at our office
  • 100% of our staff has been vaccinated against Covid-19
  • Patients are encouraged to fill out their Health History online.
  • We are covering all writing instruments with a plastic sheath which we replace after each use.
  • All magazines have been removed from their reception area.
  • The chairs in our spacious reception area are appropriately distanced.
  • All patients are required to wear a mask prior to entering the office. Masks to always cover ones nose.
  • If a patient does not have a mask one is provided for them
  • We have a hand sanitation delivery unit at the front door.
  • We are keeping the windows opened and or cracked to facilitate fresh air throughout the building. Our large ceiling fans are on and the ventilation couldn’t be better with our vaulted ceilings, allowing for fresh air.
  • All staff members wear a mask(receptionists included) AT ALL TIMES
  • We have an extra assistant to bring the dentist materials so that the chairside assistant does not have to get up or open a drawer.
  • We have special hygiene assistants to wipe down rooms and set them up. We are usually comfortably overstaffed.
  • We consistently educate ourselves on the current status of Covid-19 in our community and get the hospitals updates as Dr. Bacon is a hospital staff member.
  • Guests of patients can enjoy sitting at one of several outdoor tables and enjoy our beautiful grounds.
  • The Staff will be using Chlorox wipes to wipe down all door handles, chairs, and other common use areas before each patient arrives and after they leave.
  • We are wiping down the patient restroom with bleach after every use.
  • Receptionists are checking with patients over the phone prior to their appointments to make sure that they are feeling well and that they don’t have any symptoms before coming to our office.
  • We review and discuss the current Covid situation as a group.
  • Staff is to report immediately if not feeling well and asked to stay home from work.
  • We do think Covid-19 is a real health concern and always take it seriously.
  • All of the staff members are wearing N95 masks and eye protection at all times when they are in the building.
  • In addition to regular PPE, our staff will be using face shields, a regular mask over the N95 mask, and coats/gowns during all dental procedures.
  • Appointments that produce aerosols will be approved at the doctor’s discretion on a case-by-case basis, as we are trying to limit the amount of aerosols at the office (this includes fillings and crowns)
  • All procedures that require the use of a drill will use a high-speed suction to minimize the potential for aerosols.
  • All procedures that require the use of a drill will utilize a rubber dam to ensure complete isolation and minimize the potential for aerosols. For those of you that have not had the pleasure, a rubber dam separates your teeth from the rest of your mouth to inhibit saliva from being released into the air as an aerosol.
  • We feel very fortunate to have a large airy and open office that facilitates ventilation from the dental operatories as well as the reception area.
  • Staff have been trained on the proper way to exhibit “Donning” and “Doffing” of PPE in accordance to OSHA guidelines.
  • Flagstaff Downtown Dental is going above and beyond recommendations to ensure that both you and our staff have a safe and pleasurable experience at our office.
  • We do NOT charge patients a “Covid Fee” for their appointment.
