Have you ever listened to your dentist describing oral health concerns and had trouble following what they were talking about? You’re not alone. Patients are not typically doctors in dentistry, and dentists are not always skilled in description. This often resulted in patients feeling less than confident in their treatment options. As part of our dedication to patient education, we use intraoral cameras to capture images of patients’ smiles from our perspective. These digital photos can then be examined in detail on our chairside monitor, so you always feel completely confident in your treatment decisions.
Like traditional x-rays, digital x-rays capture scans of the inner structures of patients’ smiles. They allow us to screen for any oral health concerns not visible to the naked eye like breaks or decay inside the tooth or concerns with teeth developing below the gum line. These high-definition x-ray images allow for more precise diagnosis and treatment planning. Unlike traditional x-rays, the digital counterparts are easily viewed on chairside monitors. Digital x-rays can also be easily stored and transfer for maximal convenience.
Soft Tissue Laser
Lasers aren’t just weapons in sci-fi movies. Today, lasers are making numerous medical and dental procedures faster, more effective, and more comfortable than ever before. We use advanced soft tissue laser technology to perform a number of treatments in our office. The most common procedures we perform with our state-of-the-art laser are scaling and root planing to treat gum disease. We can also utilize lasers to remove soft tissue revealing additional tooth structure when placing porcelain veneers or dental crowns.
Oral Conscious Sedation
If you’re one of the US adults who suffers from severe dental phobia or anxiety, we may be able to make visiting the dentist more comfortable with oral conscious sedation. Taken in pill form before you ever leave home, patients feel deeply relaxed while under the influence of oral conscious sedation, but they will remain capable of responding to questions. A friend or family member will need to drive patients to and from our office.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide is a viable alternative to oral conscious sedation for many patients. Unlike the stronger oral conscious sedative, nitrous oxide allows patients to quickly achieve a state of advanced relaxation and comfort by inhaling this gas through a nasal mask. We can easily adjust the dose of sedative to keep patients completely comfortable during treatment. Once the procedure is completed, nitrous oxide sedation wears off quickly, so patients can go back to their daily activities right away.
