Advanced Dental Technology Flagstaff

Precision Dentistry

When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Stowell, Blane and Bacon and their staff utilize the latest in dental technology to enhance the quality and fit for your dental care.

Our practice uses high power (4.5X) lenses to enhance the precision of patient care.karaloops

Dentistry is micro-surgery. Using magnifying “loops” enables us to create dental restorations with incredibly precise fit and finish. You just can’t fulfill that level of care with the naked eye.

In addition to allowing precise, close-up work, magnification directs a beam of light directly on the teeth, minimizing glare for you.

Many dentists use air-driven “hand-pieces” (the dental term for “drills”). While acceptable for many procedures, these “whiny sounding” air-powered hand pieces all have a degree of non-concentricity; they do not rotate perfectly smoothly.

For the most precise aspects of restorative procedures, we use electric hand-pieces. This results in extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration (crown, veneer, or filling). This will bring more comfort to you as well. With a more precise tool, there is less vibration and less noise.

Intraoral Camera

intraoral cameraMany patients, especially younger patients, are very familiar with the latest technology and are comfortable with the high tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their primary method of information processing.

Stowell, Blane and Bacon utilize intra-oral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intra-oral camera is a very small camera – in some cases, just a few millimeters long. An intraoral camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you!

Intra-oral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, and your lab or insurance companies.

Bonded Dentistry

Flagstaff dentists Stowell, Blane and Bacon have experience with using an acid etch technique for bonding fillings, crowns, partial crowns, and veneers for both retention and excellent seal from microbials for your restorations.

Digital Radiography

Our Dexis digital radiography system is new and gives the best resolution possible, assuring accurate x-ray diagnosis! Digital results in less radiation.  Digital x-rays can be blown up to the size of a computer screen, allowing Stowell, Blane or Bacon to show you and explain any details he is reading on the x-ray.

Ultrasonic Scaling

Our hygienists use state of the art ultrasonic scaling. The vibration allows even the most tenacious tarter to fall off your teeth rather than the traditional scraping of teeth.

Teeth Whitening

We are and have a history of being at the forefront of teeth whitening.  We have two proven methods. Laser whitening, which is a more intense whitening procedure that only takes about 1 hour, and tray whitening. For the whitest teeth possible, we recommend a combination of the two.

Soft Tissue Laser

When it is necessary to incise gum tissue, we are able to use a laser rather than a scalpel! The result is less post-op pain, little to no bleeding and faster healing.

Digital Intraoral Scanner

Digital ScannerOur New Trios 3 Digital Scanner takes thousands of 3-D images of your teeth.  These images can be saved and emailed to a high quality dental lab for many uses. The Scanner takes the place of  a tray and impression material.

Our digital 3-D Scanner has the following advantages:

  1. It is a very precise technology. In the right hands, it produces an exact copy of your teeth.
  2. We are able to email the image so the lab receives it before you leave our office rather than through the mail.  You will receive your custom crown in a more timely manner.
  3. The dentist can look at the image of your teeth enlarged on a computer screen and verify the preparation is exactly the way the dentist wishes it to be.
  4. Our Scanner is able to precisely match tooth shades.
  5. Gone is the gagging from the material as it flows toward your throat.
  6. Gone is the unpleasant flavor of the different impression materials.
  7. Our Scanner is the latest most modern imaging system purchased in 2020.
